Dovetail relocation Celebrates the Flora London Marathon with Donations To Charity

Seasoned Expatriates and Londoners alike are now familiar with the annual scenes of celebration as London devotes its streets on April 22nd 2007 to The Flora London Marathon. Originally inspired by the great marathons of New York and Boston, London hosts the event for the 27th time and now attracts 46,500 entrants each year. As a fundraising event, there is no marathon in the world that comes close to the Flora London Marathon. In 2002 a record £31 million was raised and since 1981 it is estimated that over £200 million has been raised for charities world-wide with 76% of competitors running for a cause close to their hearts.

One of those entrants is Dovetail employee, Shilo Moody who is running for the Charity Kids http://www.kids-online.org.uk/ , which works with disabled children, young people and their families. Dovetail is committed to helping children from all over the world through its work with families and is delighted to donate 10% of any school search fees during March and April to the Kids charity. If you have already relocated but would like to support Kids charity, please go to Shilo’s donation site at www.justgiving.com/shilo.

01/11/2006 - Dovetail and Katherine Barton Coaching

Dovetail - the Relocation Partner - links up with Expatriate Life Coach, Katherine Barton

Dovetail, the Relocation Partner, is linking up with one of the few trained Life Coaches in the industry who specialises in coaching expatriate families to get the most from their relocation experience. This is a pioneering but logical step for a company that defines its service by the attention it gives to the needs of the expatriate spouse.

Dovetail's experience with expatriate families highlights the significant sacrifice partners are prepared to make in order to support an international move driven by their husband's job. Even if they feel positive about the move initially, feelings of resentment can set in if they start to dwell on what has been left behind: job, career, financial independence, friendships, family, social life.

As Dovetail partner Julie Sabin explains "Our services are designed to ensure the expatriate spouse feels confident about handling the day to day but also ensuring she feels connected in her new country. We then started to realise that more could be done for these women to not only feel positive about their move but also to see the opportunity to redirect their lives and fulfil ambitions lying dormant for years." This is where Katherine Barton Coaching comes in.

After working with expatriate families in Paris for Goldman Sachs and subsequently training with one of Europe's leading Life Coaches, Katherine realised that coaching had the potential to enhance significantly people's relocation experience - particularly the more intangible aspects of happiness, well being and personal fulfilment in unfamiliar circumstances. Her practice now looks to apply coaching as an uplifting and practical tool to address the challenges expatriate spouses face, from settling in to finding personal direction in a new environment.

Katherine explains that a coach is really "a professional skilled at asking the right questions - it's about helping expatriates to explore what they want from their time abroad, what 'story' they want to tell when they return home, and mapping out what they need to do or change to make it happen". Even seasoned international assignees moving every 2-3 years can find themselves repeating the same process over and over instead of adapting their strategy for integrating wherever they find themselves, or to meet their new personal and family goals. "Coaching can be a valuable tool in ensuring a happy and fulfilling relocation" explains Katherine, "because as a busy expatriate it provides a dedicated time for you to step back and reflect on how you're getting on - where you are excelling, where you are hitting a brick wall and where you want to go from here."

One thing Katherine Barton and Julie Sabin agree on is their goal for expatriate spouses to take the lead in auditing their family's relocation experience. She may not have driven the relocation in the first place but she is in a unique position to be able to define its outcome.

Dovetail and Katherine Barton Coaching offer relocation and coaching services for expatriates moving to London and the South East. Visit www.dovetailrelocation.com and http://www.katherinebarton.com/ to find out more about how they could help your relocation succeed.

Dovetail partners Canadian Expatriate Journalist Robin Pascoe

Dovetail is delighted to announce its collaboration with Canadian journalist Robin Pascoe, during her latest book launch Raising Global Nomads: Parenting Abroad in an On-Demand World.

Dovetail is partnering Robin for the UK launch which is taking place between October 3rd to 12th at a total of 7 international schools in and around London, the American Womens Clubs in Berkshire and Surrey, the Diplomatic Services Families Association and Shell Outpost.

A lot has changed since Robin wrote Culture Shock! A Wifes Guide. The world has become globalized, digitalized and sadly, terrorized. That is the big picture Robin examines in Raising Global Nomads. Parenting styles in general and of 3rd culture kids in particular, have changed dramatically, prompting this timely and comprehensive re-examination of the challenges of parenting abroad.

Robin Pascoe is well known to travelling spouses internationally for her humorous, compassionate and encouraging presentations around the world. Robin has written four previous books on the subject of global living and adjustment. Her personal experiences of packing and unpacking her life, marriage and family throughout Asia as the wife of a Canadian diplomat, were the inspiration for exploring the challenges and joys inherent to the expatriate lifestyle.

Relocating to London? Dovetail puts the Emphasis back on the family

London, UK - May 1st 2005 - Relocation Experts agree that the majority of expatriate assignment failures are family-related. In response, Dovetail is launching a unique relocation service, which goes beyond the usual home search to provide a tailored settling-in service for expatriate families moving to London and the South East.

"Family adjustment" ranks at the top of the list of concerns among expatriates. In concentrating on the needs of the expatriate spouse and children, Dovetail can help companies stop their international investments walking out of the door as a result of family unhappiness.

Dovetail provides a practical, bespoke service working alongside HR professionals, executives and their families to secure happy, successful relocations. By getting to know each family in advance of the move and identifying their individual needs, Dovetail can prepare the ground for a superior relocation experience, where each family is personally guided through the early weeks of settling in the UK.

Dovetail operates under a different philosophy to most relocation service providers: they personally get to know everyone involved in the relocation and for each individual identifies the key triggers for happy integration. Dovetail prepares a detailed dossier for each family based on researching their needs in the chosen location. Most importantly, a Dovetail member of staff personally guides the family through their critical first few weeks in the UK.

Dovetail's philosophy can be summarised by the views of Robin Pascoe, expatriate author: "The trailing spouse is the backbone of the international family, the emotional rock. She's also the last person anyone thinks about until all the clean underwear runs out".

According to the partners, Julie Sabin and Fiona Gibbon, "Early investment in the family's welfare can turn an overwhelmingly lonely process of adjustment into a positive and fun experience for all concerned." Their research with expatriate families who had relocated to London in the last 3 years concluded that more help was needed in those vital early weeks. Dovetail's service was defined as a direct result of that research.

Julie Sabin and Fiona Gibbon have backgrounds not only as professionals and executives working in Marketing and Accountancy, but also as wives and mothers who have personally experienced the complex relocation experience. With offices in London and Hampshire, Dovetail goes beyond the usual home search to provide a tailored settling-in service for the expatriate executive, partner and family moving to London and the South East.
